White Center Jubilee Days is a Seafair Sanctioned Community Event, the street fair and parade will celebrate it's 87th year in White Center in 2010. It gets bigger and better each year. The 2010 Theme is Come Together, Embrace Our Differences. T-shirts and other festival memorabilia will be available for purchase soon. White Center Jubilee Days is an event for families, to build community pride and unity. It is an opportunity for neighbors to get to know their neighbors, community service providers and local business members.
2010 will mark the 22nd year that White Center has participated in a Seafair sanctioned community event. An event planned for the local businesses to participate and support the community and it’s resources and talent. The street fair continues to grow. In 2010 a locally grown Farmers Market is being planned. A fireworks display to kick off the event in conjunction with the carnival is planned. Advance Tickets for the Carnival are now available until July 13th, this is a great bargain off the regular price,$19 ea. This is an insane deal, this ticket will be redeemed at the Carnival entrance for an arm band that will give you unlimited rides for that entire day. Currently you can get them from Albertsons, and Full Tilt in White Center and The Law Office of Gerald F. Robison in Burien, Poppa Murphy Pizza in White Center, Prolitariate Pizza in White Center . Regular Ticket prices are $24.00 ea. unlimited rides and go on sale July 14th at the show.
Our returning vendors, volunteers, musical and magic performers, carnival, children's entertainers, the famous Beer Garden and Golf Tournament and Parade , bring a fun event together for the whole community.
We have added many new events and brought back many popular events from the past for 2010, thanks to many brand new volunteers who have been stepping up to the plate to make White Center Jubilee Days Grow. In 2010 we will be holding a Auto Show and Shine Saturday 8am-4pm, contact Joe with Patrons Car Club 206-271-1145, Garden Tour, and an all new Ambassador Program with Scholarships for Seniors from our local High Schools who are planning to go to college next year. All events will be placed on the menu and schedule as more information comes available. The White Center Food Bank will receiving donations during the entire event, so please bring a food donation, ( nothing perishable) with you and drop it by the booth this is for such a good cause.
The First White Center community festival was the Great Fair, held August 1-4 1923. The slogan was "Big Time, All the Time, One Dime" and events included a carnival, sideshow, and Big Baby and Popular Lady contests. Since that event, many White Center community festivals have been held under a variety of names. The title, "Jubilee Days" was first used in 1965 and has been in use ever since.
Since its revival in 1986, the White Center Jubilee Days celebration- was organized by the White Center Chamber of Commerce. It has grown to become one of South King County’s most anticipated summer festivals. An estimated 25,000 people attend this celebration each year. White Center Jubilee Days events are part of the Seafair calendar, which is distributed at no cost in the greater Seattle area through Seafair's member festival organizations, which is sponsored by Boeing.
In 1966, the all volunteer staff and organizers decided to expand the White Center Jubilee days festival to two days. It was a great success, and the new 2 day festival has grown to include a Kids Parade, which is attended by the 2010 White Center Ambassadors the 2010 Seafair Princesses Court and escorted by the Seafair Parade Marshals from the organization and of course those goofy Seafair Clowns, and it would not be a Parade without the Pirates. Since the street fair and food Vendor court was incorporated a very popular Beer Garden was added which always hosts one or two locally made brews, as seen in the Stranger recently. The two popular Entertainment stages have been a great gathering site for families and friends and have had some very big name entertainers such as The Kingsmen and Merilee Rush. A new Kids Center was added a few years ago and has been one of the most popular events at the festival and is attended by both young and old.

There are many different ways to be a White Center Jubilee Days sponsor, or volunteer
Jubilee Days hosts a variety of events from a fantastic Golf Tourney the weekend before White Center Jubilee Days, and a wonderful fun, safe variety of Childrens events, a well established Beer Garden which is close to the main stage and is an event in it's own right. This year we will also be supporting the White Center Kiwanis Club Pancake Breakfast, which will be held July 17th, from 7:30am until Noon, at the Holy Family School located at 9615 20th SW. Tickets are available now from your local member of Kiwanis Club.
This festival event is entirely manned and operated by a very special group of volunteers, many who have been associated with Jubilee Days for over 20 years and who have volunteered in a variety of ways.
This organization has volunteer opportunities year round and so values the hard dedicated work every one is kind enough to donate to this White Center cause. If you are interested in becoming associated with White Center Jubilee Days, please come to any of the planning meetings which will begin for the 2011 Festival begining in late summer more to be announced at a later date. During the winter months they are either meeting monthly or every two weeks planing and evaluating the event. They are held every week from April through July at Big Al's Brewery in White Center on Wednesday evenings at 6:30 pm.During the actual festival, we need many volunteers with set up and clean up, helping our participants with event information, the possibilities to volunteer are endless, so what are you waiting for?
