87th Annual White Center jubilee Days

White Center Jubilee Days

Jubilee Days gets a lot of local business support, and we would like to thank all of our sponsors from the past and welcome those who will be joining us this year, our 22nd annual White Center Jubilee Days event. For a complete list of all of our sponsors from 2010 please visit our sponsor page listed in the main menu.

All new applications will be posted on the Sponsor page in early January 2011 so keep checking back. If you want to become a 2011 event sponsor, please submit an email request to Sponsors@jubileedays.org for 2011. You can also vist our Sponsors Page for more information today.

There are many different ways to be a White Center Jubilee Days sponsor, or volunteer

  • Volunteer to work in the beer garden
  • What are the legal restrictions on the beer garden? The following rules are set by the Washington State Liquor Control Board and we are required by law to enforce them:

    * All patrons, regardless of age (whether you're 21 or 101!), MUST present valid and acceptable ID to enter the beer gardens. No ID = no entrance, no exceptions.

    * No one under the age of 21 is allowed into the beer garden. Children, including babes-in-arms, may not enter the beer garden under any circumstances.

    * Non-alcoholic beverages may enter Festival beer gardens (see below note for exit rules), and are available for sale in beer gardens.

    * NO BEVERAGES MAY BE TAKEN OUT OF THE BEER GARDENS (all liquids, whether brought in or purchased in the beer garden, must be consumed or discarded prior to exiting the garden). Bag checks will be enforced.

    * Smoking is not allowed inside the beer gardens, as they are workplaces for beer garden staff. Local health departments enforce compliance with this public law. For more information about RCW 70.160, see metrokc.gov/health/tobacco.

Budweiser encourages you to enjoy White Center Jubilee Days responsibly. If you drive to the festival, make sure you have a designated driver. Designated drivers who register at the Information booth will get a special thank-you gift, courtesy of one of our sponsors.

Is smoking allowed at Jubilee Days?

Washington State law (RCW 70.160) prohibits smoking in all public indoor places, all workplaces, near all doorways, windows and air ventilation systems associated with any public building. This means:

    * Smoking is not allowed inside any of the indoor venues.

    * Smoking is not allowed inside the beer garden, as they are workplaces for beer garden staff.

    * Smoking is not restricted at any of the outdoor areas of Jubilee Days, but we do ask that you try and be courteous of fellow Festival attendees. We also ask that you dispose of all smoking-related garbage (butts, packages, etc.) in the appropriate receptacles.

Local health departments enforce compliance with this public law. For more information about RCW 70.160, and for information regarding the workplace smoking ban and smoking cessation programs, contact the King County Health Department's Tobacco Prevention Program at (206) 296-7613 or metrokc.gov/health/tobacco.

    White Center Jubilee Days

Jubilee Days is a Seafair Sanctioned Community Event, and the street fair and parade gets bigger and better each year. White Center Jubilee Days is an event for families, to build community pride and unity. It is an opportunity for neighbors to get to know their neighbors, community service providers and local business members.

2010 will mark the 22nd year that White Center has participated in a Seafair sanctioned community event. An event planned for the local businesses to participate and support the community and it’s resources and talent. The street fair continues to grow. In 2010 a locally grown Farmers Market is being planned. A fireworks display to kick off the event in conjunction with the carnival is planned. Our returning venders, volunteers, musical and magic performers, carnival, children's entertainers, the famous beer garden and Golf Tournament and parade, bring a fun event together for the whole community.

    A SeaFair Sanctioned Event

    White Center Jubilee Days

The First White Center community festival was the Great Fair, held August 1-4 1923. The slogan was "Big Time, All the Time, One Dime" and events included a carnival, sideshow, and Big Baby and Popular Lady contests. Since that event, many White Center community festivals have been held under a variety of names. The title, "Jubilee Days" was first used in 1965 and has been in use ever since.

Since its revival in 1986, the celebration- organized by White Center Chamber of Commerce, has grown to become one of South King County’s most anticipated summer festivals. An estimated 25,000 people attend this celebration each year. Jubilee Days events are part of the Seafair calendar, which is distributed at no cost in the greater Seattle area through Seafair's member festival organizations, which is sponsored by Boeing.

In 1966, the all volunteer staff and organizers decided to expand the Jubilee days festival to two days, it was a great success, and the new 2 day festival has grown to include a Kids Parade, which is attended by the Seafair Princesses Court and escorted by the Seafair Parade Marshals from the organization and of course those goofy Seafair Clowns, and it would not be a Parade without the Pirates. Since the street fair and food vendor court was incorporated a very popular Beer Garden was added which always hosts one or two locally made brews. The two popular entertainment stages have been a great gathering site for families and friends and have had some very big name entertainers such as The Kingsmen and Merilee Rush. A Kids Center was added and has been one of the most popular events at the festival.
